Developed in 2006 and donated to the Dawson County Arts Unlimited auction/ fundraiser "Hooked on Paddlefish" art project. This project featured the work of Montana area artists in the development of (21) full-size, 49" artistically painted models of the local "paddlefish" (Polydon spathula). Paddlefish are unique to the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers in Montana and to the Yangstze River in China. These fiberglass models were produced by a science and taxidermy supply company in Oregon. The project also included 15 smaller desktop paddlefish models also painted by area artists. The paddlefish creations went to public auction in June 2006, and all proceeds went to the Dawson County Arts Unlimited Gallery to help further the promotion of the arts in the eastern Montana community.
